สัญธิยา รีสอร์ทแอนด์สปา แนว eco-luxury แบบรักธรรมชาติบนเกาะยาวใหญ่ (ภาษาไทยอยู่ด้านล่างค่ะ)
We were greeted by a team of staff as I stepped on to the resort’s private speed boat at Ao Po Grand Marina in Phuket. “Please sit back and relax. We will be arriving in only 20 minutes, Madame”, said one of the staff. Then the boat took off.
At the time, I still did not know where I was going on this “surprise trip”. I saw the the word “Santhiya” written on the speedboats, but I wasn’t sure which island we were heading to. Nearly 20 minutes passed and I started to notice some really gorgeous traditional Thai-style steep-roofed pavilion villas along the hillside of the island we were approaching.

Upon arrival, another team of staff welcomed us, took our luggage and lead us inside. I took a minute to observe the surroundings and finally worked out which island we had landed on!
หลักจากที่เรือแล่นออกไปประมาณ 15 นาที บีก็เริ่มสังเกตเห็นว่า เกาะที่อยูทีอยู่ด้านหน้า มีวิลล่าขึ้นอยู่เต็มไปหมดเลย สวยมาก เป็นแบบหลังคาลาดสไตล์ไทย ๆ บางหลังก็เป็นตึกสูงประมาณ 7-8 ชั้น…
และพอเรือจอดเทียบที่ท่าเล็ก ๆ แล้ว บีก็เดินเข้าไปสู่บริเวณรีสอร์ท ตอนนั้นแหล่ะค่ะที่เพิ่งจะรู้ว่า อ้อ! ตัวเองมาที่เกาะยาวใหญ่นี่เอง!
Koh Yao Island region encompasses 44 islands in the Andaman sea. Within the 140km range, Koh Yao Noi (“little long island”) and Koh Yao Yai (“big long island”) are the most widely known. In fact, in recent years, both islands have become sister islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. While Koh Yao Yai is twice as big as Koh Yao Noi, it is known to be more local and “isolated”. If you are looking for a peaceful escape where you can get away from your daily hectic world (or people you know!), this is your destination.
บริเวณน่านน้ำเกาะยาว ครอบคลุมเกาะเล็กเกาะน้อยถึง 44 เกาะในฝั่งทะเลอันดามัน มีเกาะยาวน้อยและเกาะยาวใหญ่เป็นเกาะที่เป็นที่รู้จักมากที่สุด ซึ่งจริง ๆ แล้วในเกือบ ๆ สิบปีที่ผ่านมา เกาะสองเกาะนี้เริ่มได้ชื่อว่าเป็นเกาะพี่น้องของเกาะสมุยและเกาะพงันด้วย เกาะยาวใหญ่ มีขนาดใหญ่กว่าเกาะยาวน้อยกว่าสองเท่า แต่เป็นเกาะที่มีความเงียบสงบมากกว่าค่ะ ถ้าใครที่อยากหนีชีวิตในเมืองที่วุ่นวายมาพักผ่อนอย่างเป็นส่วนตัวล่ะก้อ เกาะยาวใหญ่นี่ใช่เลยค่ะ

The property boasts the best of what Koh Yao Yai has to offer–the long sandy beach front, the lush tropical forest and the panoramic view of the ocean frontage from the hill.

The accommodation area is up on very steep hills, but the resort’s shuttles run very frequently and the drivers definitely know how to use the gears. It was my lucky weekend and I got to stay in one of their best teak villas with an infinity pool: Santhiya Ocean View Pool Villa Suite (review coming up on my next post so subscribe to my blog and stay tuned!). ห้องที่บีได้อยู่ คือ Santhiya Ocean View Pool Villa Suite นะคะ ซึ่งเป็นพูลวิลล่า ที่ใหญ่อันดับสองของรีสอร์ท ซึ่งโพสต์หน้าในบล๊อกบี จะพาชมพูลวิลล่านี้ล้วน ๆ เต็มโพสต์เลยค่ะ
Not only did we immensely enjoy the breath-taking view of the sunset that evening, we also drooled over their dinner buffet. Room service was available, but we worked out the “Thai and Italian” themed buffet would a better option for the same amount of damage.
นอกจากบีจะได้ชมวิวพระอาทิตย์ตกดินสวย ๆ แบบด้านบนนี้แล้ว บีขอบอกว่า อาหารที่นี้ อร่อยมาก! จริง ๆ สามารถสั่งอาหารจานเดียวมาทานที่ห้องได้ค่ะ แต่ ดูราคาแล้วมันพอ ๆ กับถ้าลงไปทานบุฟเฟต์อาหารไทยและอิตตาเลี่ยนที่ห้องอาหารของโรงแรมเลย เราก็เลยเลือกที่จากทานบุฟเฟต์ค่ะ คุ้มกว่าเยอะ
There are 5 restaurants at the resort, and daily dinner buffet is available for a very reasonable price at Chantara restaurant. There is always a large variety of meat, poultry, seafood and vegetarian options cooked in different ways. We both enjoyed their gourmet pasta in particular. There were a few seating sections: indoor, outdoor by the beach and outdoor in the main area where a talented gentleman with a soulful voice and his acoustic guitar serenaded us throughout the entire evening.
บุฟเฟต์ก็ดีใช้ได้เลยค่ะ มีเนื้อสัตว์บกและซีฟู๊ตครบเกือบทุกประการ อาหารมังสวิรัติก็มีและสั่งให้เค้าพิเศษได้โดยถือว่ารวมอยู่ในราคาบุฟเฟต์แล้วด้วยค่ะ ที่นั่งก็มีหลายบริเวณ ทั้งตรงหาด บนระเบียงด้านนอก (แต่ไม่นั่งเพราะยุงเยอะ) และด้านในซึ่งเปิดแอร์ ขณะที่ทานก็มีลุงท่านนึงมาเล่นกีตาร์ร้องเพลงให้ฟังตลอดค่ะ
And while we dined at Chantara which was at the bottom of the resort, the next morning we breakfasted at Saaitara, a restaurant with an incredible view at the very top of the resort. And oh, next to it there also were massage beds and an insane infinity pool.
และหลังจากที่เราทานอาหารเย็นที่ห้องอาหาร Chantara (น่าจะอ่านว่า จันทารามั้ง) เช้าวันถัดไปเราก็ไปทานอาหารเช้าที่ห้องอาหาร Saaitara (อันนี้ไม่แน่ใน สงสัยจะอ่านว่า สายธารา) ห้องอาหารนี้วิวเด็ดมากค่ะ เพราะอยู่ชั้นบนของตึกที่อยู่บนยอดเขา เห็นวิวทะเลอันดามันแบบไกลสุดลูกหูลูกตาเลย นอกจากนี้ ติด ๆ กับบริเวณรับประทานอาหาร ก็มี Infinity Pool และเตียงนวดด้วย ซึ่งก็…ว่ายนำ้ไปชมวิวไป นวดไปชมวิวไป ชีวิตดีเนอะ

We were lucky to have our own private little infinity pool at our villa, but I hope that the images above prove that guests at Santhiya can still make the most out of their time there in communal pool. The resort also has another big pool at the bottom with cascading man-made waterfalls and individual floating cushioned seats in small wooden boats. Snorkelling trips are arranged a few times a week by the hotel; bicycles, motor bikes and cares and be rented from the resort. Moreover, the resort also offers a range of complimentary activities: Yoga, Thai Boxing, Kayaking and paddle boarding.
…And of course, there is a spa & massage centre.
สำหรับใครที่อยากลองไปพักที่สัญธิยา แต่อยากอยู่แบบห้อง Deluxe เฉย ๆ ก็ยังสามารถสนุกกับการว่าน้ำในสระ Infinity Pool ตามรูปด้านบนได้ สระอีกสระด้านล่างก็มีค่ะ ใหญ่ใช้ได้และมีน้ำตกเทียมสูงขึ้นไปตามด้านข้างของยอดเขาด้วย ทางรีสอร์ท มีบริการให้เช่าจักรยานและจักรยานยน และยังมีกิจกรรม Complimentary ให้พวกเราสนุกกันได้แบบไม่ต้องมีค่าใช้จ่ายเพิ่มด้วยค่ะ เช่น โยคะ มวยไทย พายเรือคายัค และ Paddle Boarding ค่ะ
We were only there for 3 days and 2 nights and it wasn’t long enough! Koh Yao Yai is such a peaceful hideaway surrounded by beautiful nature, and Santhiya definitely didn’t let us down. The resort has all the facilitates you would expect–gym, library, spa, souvenir shop, etc., and the service was excellent. We wished we had more time to discover more about the island as well as the resort. Nevertheless, there is another Santhiya Resort and Spa on Koh Phangan island in the Gulf of Thailand and I am sure we can find an excuse to visit in the near future.
