“Welcome to your pool villa, Madam”, said the staff who unlocked the beautiful hand-carved wooden door before us. This was the next thing we saw. This was our very own pool villa for the weekend.
If you have not read my previous post about Santhiya Resort and Spa and its general information, here is the link to the post.
Santhiya Resort and Spa Koh Yao Yai is an eco-luxury resort comprising of 39 teak wood Pool Villas and 60 Deluxe rooms–all situated among the trees on the hillside. The property boasts the best of what Koh Yao Yai has to offer–the long sandy beach front, the lush tropical forest and the panoramic view of the ocean frontage from the hill.
This weekend I was spoiled and we stayed in the Ocean View Pool Villa Suite. This is a 150 square metres stand-alone villa with a spacious patio with sun beds, one double bedroom with a separate living area and an outdoor jacuzzi. There are also indoor shower and outdoor shower! So many options for rinsing and cleaning oneself (and in various environment!).
Now, let’s have a little detour of the villa. First, the living area.
Then there is a mini-hallway with dressing tables between the living area and the bedroom.
And here is the place where we rest our heads very comfortably.
As mentioned before, this villa offers plenty of possibilities for guests to rinse themselves:
Though we were highly impressed by the fact that the bathroom is larger than the bedroom, we spent most of our time at our private pool–naturally. Here are some of our favourite shots!
As the sun went down, we sat back and relaxed to the resort’s nice collection of jazz music, sipping ice-cold bubbles. We wouldn’t mind having evenings like this one again.
In summary, Santhiya Ocean Pool Villa Suite was fantastic. It had everything we needed and we had absolutely no urge to leave the villa for a “change of atmosphere”. Despite the fact that it was located quite close to other villas, it felt very secluded and private. It is situated up on the hill, but we had no problem with the resort’s shuttle service which ran very frequently. We had an amazing weekend and definitely would like to be back in the near future.

Hello
Thank you for sharing such beautiful photos and your experience.
I am planning to go here for a trip soon with my husband and wanted to know how private the infinity pool is? We are a muslim couple and want to stay as secluded as possible- I understand the pool has view to the sea but are people on the beach or in the boat in the sea able to see you if you are in the infinity pool?
Thanks in advance
Hi Maria, sorry for this late reply–I just saw your comment coming through.
The pool inside each pool villa is VERY private. There are proper high dividers between each villas. You can still hear the villa next door out in the pool or balcony sometimes, but you cannot see them (and they cannot see you!).
The property is quite high up on the hill and not at the front side where people are arriving. The communal infinity pool is right at the top and pretty much there is no way people in the boat in the sea can see the guest 🙂 We felt that the privacy was high there and would actually really love to go back!
