2018 is the second year that Thailand got to be a part of Roxy’s global women empowering campaign Make Waves Move Mountains Tour. Having FUN RUN & YOGA as their main activities, this event was hosted Phuket, one of the country’s most popular beach and sport tourism destinations.
Starting at the stunning Promthep Cape, he 4.5km running route–short but sweet–includes various beautiful landscapes of Phuket: some hills, viewpoints over looking to ocean, some flats around a lake and the beautiful Nai Harn beach.
Despite the fact that there have been more and more tourists visiting the island, the Mokens are truly island childs still. In this blog I have put together a few footage and images of them doing their “Moken things”: building huts, fishing, picking up wild fruits in the woods, and simply chillin’!
After a few days of adjusting-ourselves-to-primitive-island-life, it was time to properly bond with the lovely Moken Sea Gypsies. We came up with games, taught them to sing, and simply hang out with them, trying to learn as much as possible about them and their way of living. Let’s have a look at a video on how we did this:
One of the places I always make sure I visit when I travel is local markets. Why? Because it is one of the best way to learn (more) about the culture there.
Towards the end of my Rosa’s Road Tripin Phetchabun, Thailand, we decided to pop by to see how the “Hmong” tribe were getting down for Thai New Year.
Winters are beautiful, cold and white, but without a single flower in sight.
I found myself waking up in Chiang Rai, where Thai people travel to in our cold season to experience something somewhat close to “Winter”. The “wintery” weather here isn’t so cold but cool enough for certain types of flowers—categorised as winter flowers among the Thais—to blossom.
A van picked me up from the Dusit Island Resort and headed straight down to one of the landmarks of Chiang Rai city, “Tung Garden”. This was where the vision of varying vibrant colours struck me, and that vision was real.
